Also reminds me of the caution given in 1 Timothy 3:6 "He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil." Seems to me that this is part of what that's warning us about. Time spent walking in God's Spirit grows our humility, because we see how prone to failure we are, and how completely dependent we are on him for absolutely anything and everything that's good.

Great post! Goes right along with what I am learning in Biblical counseling. And the servant of God must not be quarrelsome, but kind to all. Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
