You expressed this well! We do need a heart check often just like a sound check! However it is a personal thing,a heart issue, only God knows someone else’s heart and it’s His job to convict ! We can’t solve this as a group but we can put limits on those leaders that do not profess truth!! Personally we need to remember that balance of walking in comfort of the Spirit and fear of the Lord...I don’t think the fear of the Lord is taught enough or always understood...thank God He is merciful and puts up with us as infants and loves us anyway!! I have been in just about every denomination and have seen the different forms of worship...it really is all about heart and devotion....I love your point of silence and just listening too!! Thanks for your perspective and btw,I love those songs!! ? thx for sharing!??

I understand what you mean, but that is not the Biblical perspective. The first and greatest commandment is to love the Lord with all our hearts. We are commanded to be emotionally engaged when we worship God. All throughout Scripture, God criticizes people who serve in pretense but not in their hearts. Just because we make mistakes and don't always feel like worshipping him doesn't mean we're justified in that. I'm not thankful that worship leaders fake spiritual rapture. But yes, I am thankful, as well, that they push past individual circumstances to strive to honor him, and to create music that helps me get closer to God. Hope that clarifies what I mean!

But similarly, in every area of our lives, there are days when we are more aware of God's presence in and around us - and days when wer aren't. Surely, the whole point of offering a sacrifice of praise is that we praise and worship when we DON'T feel like it!
I, for one, am grateful that these worship leaders push past their own, individual circumstances and create music that really does help me get closer to God - and help me to worship.
Our emotions don't necessarily have to be engaged at every moment. God is bigger than that! And I am thankful.
Good bless you x
