Such a good tip! I think that “life application” portion came in for me when I began to pray the psalms line by line. Puts you in a different frame of mind, to see things you wouldn’t normally see when just rush-reading.

I, too, had that Psalm 119 “It’s too long and I’m not getting it” transformation to “I love this!” Every Christian who is avoiding Psalm 119 is missing something. For me, it happened when I committed to reading the entire Word of God from cover to cover – about 30 years ago. Doing so made a huge difference in my life (not just 119, but the entire Bible). Adding life application notes made it all the more relevant. Challenge!
