Lamech was not Abrams father; Lamech was Methusaleh's son, and the father of NOAH. Lamech died in the flood (because he was "ONE WHO TEARS ASUNDER").

Loved this! Japheth, Shem, and Ham would have been alive too during the time of the tower. So when the earth was divided/language was corrupted, perhaps it makes sense that people followed one of these patriarchs. There are 3 main branches of language... Is there a connection here? Linguists are beginning to realize there is a 4th branch in the Americas. I recommend checking out the Book of Ether. It discusses the Jaredites who left Babel to avoid their language becoming corrupted like others. The vessel the brother of Jared makes is similar to the ark of Noah. Jared could have discussed it with him. Honestly, the Book of Abraham and the Book of Moses in the Pearl of Great Price are treasures worthy of exploration as well.

The long lifespans of Ham, Shem, and Japheth, (and, presumably their wives), goes a long way, (pardon the pun), in explaining, the degredation of humanity, in such a short time.
Noah was pronounced righteous, through his faith and obedience to God.
We can assume that Shem took somewhat after his father, as his, is the lineage that Christ came from.
Little is revealed about the character of Japheth, except that he had some respect for his father, in that he assisted Shem in covering Noah's nakedness.
However, much is indicated regarding Ham - and possibly his wife, as well.
The Bible declares that there were giants on the earth, before the Flood, and "after that", (after the Flood).
A Scriptural study of this shows that most of the giants mentioned after the Flood, came from Ham's lineage.
Therefore, Since Noah was, "perfect in his generations", and no other giantism came from Shem or Japheth's lineage; we can deduce that Noah's wife, (and the wives of these two sons), were also untainted.
This leaves only Ham's wife, as the carrier of the genetic material that produces giantism. (Ham, himself could not have carried the genes, as he came from Noah, and his wife).
Combining Ham's, appearent lack of respect for his father, and his somewhat willfullness, we can assume that his marriage was not one, that Noah might have appproved of.
Maybe Ham, (and his wife), harbored a resentment, towards God's judgement on the only world they'd ever known; and the Post-Flood, hardships they had to suffer.
Now, getting to their liespans.
God had commanded them to be fruitful, and multiply; and so they did.
Given the lifespans, of Noah's sons, and daughters-in-law; their children most likely lived two, to three hundred years, as well; producing offspring for at least the first one hundred of them.Offspring; producing offspring; producing offspring.
Within the 100 years, or so, (between, departing the Ark, and building the Tower of Babel), the population grew to several thousand individuals, (enough to build a city).
During this entire time, Ham, (most likely, goaded on by his disgruntled, genetically tainted, and probably overbearing, wife), would have romanticized the pre-flood world, instead of demonizing it, for the sinful, and evil, world it had become.
This, in turn, planted the seeds and gave rise, to the various non-biblical accounts found throughout the ancient cultures.
Abram, (being decended from Shem, and warned by God), rejected such idolatry and twisted accounts.
God told him to leave, and separate himself from the world he knew, and go to a place He had prepared for Abram.
And Abraham obeyed.

It wasn't until over 400 years later, when God delivered the Israelites from Egypt, that God gave Moses the true account of man's creation and the history of the world.

The first five books of the Bible, was God, setting the historical record straight.
